CLEC - Case Study
|
A Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) in southeastern U.S. maintains a total of 119 unmanned buildings and cabinets within a metropolitan region. All sites are within a 60 mile radius. This customer needed to know the status of commercial power and battery voltage at each site. For this customer, one Falcon™ was installed at each of the 119 sites. Before they made the decision to use the Falcon, service technicians had to drive to each site to check on the status of critical equipment.
Monitored Parameters:
- Battery voltage
- Utility power on/off
- Room temperature
- Generator on/off
- Generator fuel level
- Telecom switch summary alarm
For notification method, the Falcon uses a primary and a back-up method to notify the company's Operations Center. Upon alarm, the Falcon dials-up a local internet service provider, then sends a notification over the internet to the Operations Center. If this notification method is unsuccessful, the Falcon will dial-up (via modem and telephone line connection) a receiving modem pool at the Operations Center and deliver the message.
