New Distance Read System Enables Critical Facilities to Pinpoint Leaks With Greater Accuracy and Configurability
RLE introduces a successor product, the SeaHawk LD5100, with more features at no additional cost
FORT COLLINS, CO | 19 Jul 2007 - RLE Technologies today announced its release of the SeaHawk LD5100. The LD5100 distance read system pinpoints the exact location of any conductive fluid on up to 5,000 feet of RLE patented SeaHawk Leak Detection Cable (SC). The LD5100 is currently available for delivery in August 2007.
As successor to the SeaHawk LD5000, the LD5100 offers a lighter weight and more compact form factor. System upgrades include: improved detection accuracy in distance measurement on short and long lengths of cable within plus/minus two feet of cable; increased configurability with the addition of up to 12 virtual zones; and expanded integration capabilities with existing Building Management Systems (BMS) and/or Network Management Systems (NMS) with dual Modbus. The LD5100 also got a face lift, now donning a backlit graphic liquid crystal display (LCD). RLE is offering this upgraded system at the same list price as its predecessor.
Similar to its predecessor, the LD5100 works in conjunction with SC cable. When a conductive fluid comes in contact with SC cable or SeaHawk zone spot detectors (SDZ), the system pinpoints the location of the leak or leaks. Within seconds, the system annunciates the alarm and the LCD provides a distance measurement. The physical location of the leak can then be determined by cross-referencing the distance displayed with a reference map of your site. Notably, the system has adjustable leak, delay and contamination alarm thresholds which virtually eliminate false alarms due to factors such as high humidity and dust.
The LD5000 system is currently being used in data centers, clean rooms, telecommunication centers, and record storage areas around the globe. With the release of its successor, "RLE offers even better protection with the LD5100, and any added degree of protection from costly water damage and power outages is invaluable to our customers because it helps to improve precious uptime of their critical equipment," said Mike Orlich, President of RLE Technologies. Distance read systems are particularly advantageous for large areas, and in areas where it is not possible to view the sensing cable, such as raised-floor areas.
"The LD5100 system was designed to protect critical spaces and to make pinpointing any problem areas easier than ever," said Orlich. "We also try to make the process of determining which system is best for a particular infrastructure as easy as possible, so we post a system selection guide on our website," added Orlich. RLE offers facilities a wide range of leak detection systems to protect critical infrastructure from water leaks and other environmental factors.
